At Collegium, we answered the question with a series of questions:
What are your motivations for getting married?
Are there any extenuating circumstances (illness, recent tragedy)?
Is there a good reason you shouldn't have children (100% chance of illness, history of child abuse, etc.)?
Our conclusion was that after asking such questions, the ultimate guideline is whether you are getting married for selfish reasons or to glorify the kingdom of God. If the reasons are selfish whatsoever, it's a bad idea.
